Warm fuzzies

I know that for the last few weeks my blog has been all dogs, all the time, but I just got an e-mail from Utah Lab Rescue with an update about Dixie (our first foster Lab) and it made my heart smile.

Check out how well little Dixie dog is doing in her new home:

Here's what Dixie's family had to say:

"Thanks again for all of your help with Dixie. She is fully part of the family and our yellow Lab and son's best buddy (ours too!)."

Doesn't that just make you feel glad all over? I does me.

Bad habits

I should apologize in advance to Brownie's future adoptive family. I've taught him some bad habits, including sleeping on the couch, drinking out of the toilet, and stealing Nic's socks.

He does, however, still listen better than both of my dogs--which is super frustrating because he's a stray from the pound that I've had for only a week and I've been working on my dogs for more than two years.

Those two dogs of mine had better watch it; this little vagrant is showing them up.

Meet Brownie

It has been a week since we took Dixie to her new family and now I've picked up a new foster: Brownie.

Brownie is a stray picked up in Ogden and was nearing the end of his stay at the Ogden Animal Shelter. Another volunteer drove him down from up north and he'll stay with us until he is adopted.

He's available for adoption through Utah Lab Rescue, is sweet and loving, and is just a really good dog. Anyone want a great chocolate Lab?

Bacon Explosion

Take 1.5 pounds of bacon, weave together.

Take two pounds of Italian sausage, cover weaved bacon.

Fry a half pound of bacon, sprinkle over sausage. Add barbecue sauce. Roll sausage.

Place on a baking sheet. Cook uncovered for two hours in a 275 degree oven.

Brush outside with barbecue sauce. Slice...

...and enjoy

I couldn't not tell Nic about this recipe. So what started out as a joke passed around at work became Nic's new favorite dish. I did, however, make sure that he shared--this monstrosity contains nearly 5,000 calories and 500 grams of fat.
